School Library Journal
A little boys invitation to play turns into a coding activity in this math-forward story. Cora loves to play pirates, yet Beto wants to have a tea party. To get his sister out of her room, Beto draws a map to a treasure, which turns into a trial-and-error project for him. This bilingual story has side-by-side text in English and Spanish, yet the original English version already had Spanish phrases and words, and at times its repetitive. Instead of consolidating the single word exclamations, like Vamos! there are now two of the same word, crowding some of the pages with text. A glossary of Spanish words and a list of related activities can be found in the back. VERDICT Despite a busy design, this is a good purchase for libraries serving Spanish-speaking communities and where STEM books are needed or in high demand.
